FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RON OPFER, CCIM, RECEIVES NATIONAL GRANT TO ASSIST BANKS WITH THE DISTRESSED ASSET MARKET IN

COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE

Coldwell Banker Premier Real Estate agent will assist banks with analytical tools to help them better understand the properties that they own

Las Vegas, NV (February 5, 2010 ) Ron Opfer has been a successful commercial real estate agent in the valley for many years, always at the forefront of acquiring innovative market analysis skills and industry-leading technology tools to  assist his clients and his company in this ever changing marketplace.  In late 2008, he began assisting local banks with the analysis of their properties for FDIC auctions and in 2009, helped form a special assets division for Coldwell Banker Premier Realty’s (CBPR) parent company, Realogy Global Client Solution, now directing all of the commercial activities for the special asset department nationwide.

In late 2009, Opfer received one of the first ESRI/CCIM Institute grants for his proposal to create analytical tools for the distressed asset market using ESRI’s GIS analytic software.  His application was based on the principle that banks are going to be the new owners of commercial real estate, but currently lack the sophisticated tools necessary to understand the properties that they own.  The $5000 grant was one of 200 grants available nationwide.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the technology we have available to assist us in the real estate market,” noted Opfer.  “With this grant, I’m developing tools for bank asset managers that in the end will provide them knowledge about when their assets should go to market.  Specifically I can provide to them an understanding of where the property is, what the competition is doing, the latest notice of sales, notice of default information and the property’s value.

The March issue of Commercial Investment Real Estate includes a Q&A with Ron Opfer discussing the details of his grant and his market predictions for 2010.
